S.O.A.P. 6/16 - Hidden Treasure

Scripture - Colossians 2:3-4
In whom (Christ) are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. And this I say, lest any man should beguile yoy with enticing words.

Observation
If the fear of the Lord is the beginning of all true wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, then it is within God in Christ that all the fullness, richness, or treasure of wisdom and knowledge abide. Apart from the knowledge of God in Christ, there is, at best, crumbs of wisdom and understanding, or, at worst, there is none at all. But within this revelation is the unsearchable fullness of all the wisdom and knowledge of God. Paul gives this word in an effort to prevent believers from being deceived and carried away by trite, frivolous, deceitful, and dangerous teachings.

Application
Strive to know Christ. It is in him that the fullness and treasure of God's wisdom and knowledge resides. Any who would contradict or take away from this truth are in error and work to beguile believers - to trick, to confuse,  and to deceive his people. If you desire wisdom, knowledge, or understanding, seek it out in Christ - where all the treasure is hidden.

Prayer
Father, I ask that you would open my eyes. Keep me from deception, Lord, and cause me, I pray, to grow in this one thing: the knowledge and wisdom and fullness of your glory, beauty, power, excellence, wisdom, and might in Christ Jesus my savior. For this, Lord, I thank you. you alone are worthy of all praise and honor. In Jesus' name. Amen.
